There are many restaurants to fit almost every taste in dining (the hotel recently changed out several of the restaurants with new offerings). The casino does not seem to have that cigarette smoke smell prevalent in so many local casinos. The hotel and casino are attractively designed. There is plentiful shopping nearby the casino (within walking distance) at Downtown Summerlin (). The hotel provides free shuttle service to and from the airport and also shuttles to and from the Fashion Show Mall across from the Wynn Hotel on the Strip.
The resort, part of the Station Casinos group, is located on the 215 Beltway about 10 miles west of the Strip and 20 minutes or so from McCarran Airport, depending upon traffic. Red Rock Resort, located west of the city in the Summerlin area, is a striking property than combines all of the features of a Strip resort while located in proximity to beautiful Red Rock Canyon, a hiking and biking paradise. Most of these venues cannot rival the glory of Strip hotels, but there is one exception. For most of us “locals,” a plethora of off-strip hotels and casinos meet our gaming and “vacation” needs. Like most people of a certain age who live in the Las Vegas environs, we seldom go down to the Strip unless getting together with visiting friends from out of town.
